Murasugi Onsen, where Kansuirou is located,
has a history of over 700 years as the birthplace of its hot spring.
Its natural radium spring is considered exceptionally
rare among Japan’s many hot springs and has long been valued for its unique qualities.
Since the late Edo period, Kansuirou has welcomed guests to this land,
continuing the traditions of a Japanese ryokan through the ages.
Set within a spacious garden of approximately 20,000 square meters,
the inn offers only nine guest rooms, ensuring a quiet and unhurried stay.
Because of this intimate scale, we are able to focus wholeheartedly on thoughtful hospitality and personal care.
Surrounded by nature and historic architecture, we invite you to slow down, relax, and experience the spirit of Japanese culture at your own pace.
Kansuirou offers nine unique guest rooms, each with its own style and atmosphere.
Five of the rooms feature private hot-spring baths.
All rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and modern comforts while preserving the charm of the original wooden architecture.
At Kansuirou, most accommodation plans include
both dinner and breakfast,reflecting the traditional
ryokan style of staying and dining on-site.
Our seasonal Japanese cuisine is carefully
prepared by our chefs using fresh ingredients
from Niigata’s mountains, rivers, and sea.
Menus change monthly to highlight the natural
flavors of each season.
For guests staying in our standalone private villas,
we also offer more flexible options, including a room-only
plan and an evening bento dinner plan without breakfast.
These plans are designed for guests who prefer a lighter
or more independent stay, while still enjoying the
atmosphere of a traditional ryokan.
If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions,
please inform us in advance.
Our natural radium hot spring has been known for over 700 years
for its gentle yet highly effective healing properties.
The water is colorless, odorless, and mild on the skin, yet rich
in natural minerals that promote circulation and recovery.
While we do not have open-air baths (rotenburo), we offer large
communal baths and a private family bath that can be reserved free of charge.
Please enjoy the quiet warmth and natural energy of the historic
source spring of Murasugi Onsen.
Murasugi Onsen Village is surrounded by peaceful forests and rural landscapes.
Nearby attractions include Yakushi-dō Shrine, the twin cedar trees known as “Meoto-sugi,” and scenic walking paths through the woods.

Lake Hyouko

The Lake Hyouko is nationally known as the swan migration grounds. Swans fly in from Siberia around the month of March until around the month of October, peaking more than 5,000 birds in late November each year.
Suibara Magistrate’s Office
[10 minutes by car]
The Office was built in 1764 during the Edo Period and was restored to its original state on August 25,
1995. To easily understand the Samurai’s way of living during that period, one will find life-size wax dolls inside.
Northern Culture Museum
[30 minutes by car]
Niigata Prefecture is known all over Japan as the rice-producing province and this structure, designed purely of Japanese-style architecture, was built during the Emperor Meiji Period by a wealthy landlord named Bunkichi Ito.
One can feel its rich history through documents and art collections including paintings and sculptures from former household heads which are on display.
Shibata Castle

In Japan, a castle is built to house individuals of high position in society such as the Shogun and the Samurai.
This Castle and its walls are Niigata Prefecture’s only edifices preserved in its original state.

This traditional brewery has a rich history that stretches back more than 200 years.One can tour the Sake Brewery.Sake-tasting is held right inside the Brewery and one can also have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs thereafter.
